Slide into summer at Silverburn

Flamingo beach returns to Silverburn on Monday in aid of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

Pink flamingos are flocking back to Glasgow for Summer as Silverburn prepares for the return of its Flamingo Beach, bigger and better for 2024.

Open 10am-5pm daily from Monday 24 June until Tuesday 20 August, children can play in the golden sands of Flamingo Beach located in Silverburn’s main atrium. As well as playing in the sand and building sandcastles, kids can also enjoy a slide – a new addition to the beach this year.

As well as the beach, which is larger than last year with more seating areas for adults too, guests of Silverburn can spot the giant pink 8m tall flamingos positioned throughout the centre. A new giant nesting flamingo has also joined the flock for 2024, ready for shopper selfies in the Winter Garden.

Once again, all proceeds from beach admissions will go to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity which will also be selling merchandise to raise much-needed funds.

Adults can join the summer fun too, with the chance to bag a trip away. within partnership with Hays Travel Silverburn, a £1,500 holiday voucher will be up for grabs in a free-to-enter competition on Silverburn’s website.

David Pierotti, General Manager of Silverburn, said: “We are always keen to offer guests entertainment and memorable experiences during their visit to Silverburn. Our flamingo summer was a huge hit last year and it is back with a bang for 2024. We welcomed over 20,000 visitors to the beach and raised a whopping £41,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in 2023 and we hope people will be as generous this year.”

William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Business Development at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Flamingo Beach was such a colourful and fun activity at Silverburn which raised an amazing sum of money and made an incredible impact in supporting the services of our charity. We’re sure the beach will be a popular attraction once again and look forward to welcoming even more families this summer.”

Admission to the beach costs £3 per child for 30minutes, with all proceeds going to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
