Silverburn reminisce footie memories with exclusive ‘Scotland Kits Through the Years’ exhibition
Glasgow’s leading shopping and leisure destination, Silverburn, is getting into the spirit of the upcoming UEFA EURO 2024 tournament as it prepares to welcome a nostalgic exhibition of official Scotland strips in partnership with the Scottish Football Museum based at Hampden Park.
Opening on Friday (7 June), the “Scotland Kits Through the Years” exhibition will include six official Scotland tops from past international tournaments.
Also included in the exhibition is an official top from the EURO 2008 qualifier match signed by that year’s Scotland squad which will be given away as a prize via Silverburn’s Facebook page, alongside prizes of family passes to the Scottish Football Museum. Guests can also get into the sporting spirit and capture the experience by taking a selfie perched on a giant Subbuteo prop during their visit.
The football tops, special prize, and Subbuteo prop are being provided by the Scottish Football Museum to capitalise on EURO fever and promote its world-leading football collection as well as the Football Memories Scotland project, a national partnership between the Scottish Football Museum and Alzheimer Scotland which supports over 500 reminiscence groups across the country. Guests who are signed up to receive emails from Silverburn can also enjoy half price admission to the wider museum collection at Hampden Park until the end of June, using an exclusive discount code that will be emailed to them on 7th June.
The free exhibition will open next Friday (7th June) ahead of the Scotland vs Finland friendly at Hampden Park that evening and will run until 23rd June.
David Pierotti, General Manager of Silverburn, said: “The whole nation will be cheering on Scotland and we’re happy to share in the excitement of the Euros with this unique and historic exhibition, while also supporting Football Memories Scotland.
“This is just the beginning of our Summer plans for 2024 from new retailers to family friendly entertainment and we’re excited to welcome guests to enjoy everything we have in store for them.”
Neal Ross, Director of Events at the Scottish Football Museum said: “We are delighted to be working with Silverburn to highlight some of our museum collection, just a stone’s throw from the Scottish Football Museum itself based at Hampden Park.
Our charitable project, Football Memories, supports people to reminisce over the beautiful game and we hope this exhibition will trigger many fond memories of the Scotland team over the years. We hope to welcome lots of Silverburn shoppers to the Museum over summer!”
